TYC organizes five or more social events during the summer season. While these events are optional, they offer great social benefits for members. Three are generally held at the Club, one in the local area, and one away. The events tend to be combined with a sailing/boating event at the same time (e.g. Long Distance Cruise, Round Howe Island Race). The social events may have a particular theme (Caribbean Night), or could be a pot-luck supper, or hamburgers and corn roast. The events are a perfect opportunity to meet other members, have good conversation, talk about sailing or boating, ports of call, or spend time with friends and family. The sailing races provide a little competition before the main event dinner and are geared for fun and team-building. One can either enter their own boat in therace, or crew for another member on their boat (crews are always needed). Power-boaters can help out as a member of the race committee, help set up and monitor the race course, or just watch the race action unfold. The races can be exciting and challenging, with good winds, or just good fun, if the winds are lighter. Even if the event is away from Trident, there are often members who travel by car to join in the festivities. Members are always welcome to pitch-in to help set up festive events at TYC.
