Rob Toller and Mike Ross have spent significant time reviewing shop drawings to make sure we got what we specified.

A Bravo Zulu for those efforts.

Drawings and other information is anticipated to be posted on the web site soon.Screen Shot 2016-04-27 at 11.06.08 AM

Washroom Renovation Update #2

Renovations are well underway. Demolition phase is essentially complete as of 08 Apr 2016 with an focus on sanitary piping, masonry and plumbing and electrical rough-in commencing the week of 11 April.

TYC has rented “proper” bathrooms from Luxury Portaparty from Mallorytown (web site – http://luxuryportaparty.com/ ) commencing 20 Apr for a four week period. This includes a separate Men’s and Women’s facility with sinks. Showers will not be available.

The TYC Clubhouse is available for use but the washroom area is a Construction Zone and has been secured. The office area and the upstairs remain accessible. The water treatment system has been installed and testing will need to be completed in the near term. The water system to the facility and docks will be commissioned as and when required without compromising the re-plumbing of the washrooms and the kitchen and installation of new hot water tanks. I wish to acknowledge some preliminary work by Zoltan Vincze in preparing the water system as well as suggestions for consideration in the design process.

TYC is cognizant of the needs of the members and is progressing well to achieve upgraded washrooms in the near term.

Washroom renovations begin April 2016

TYC has signed a Contract with RD Steele Construction Limited of Brockville to conduct the washroom renovations at TYC. Demolition will commence on Tuesday, 05 April with completion planned for the end of May. Thoroughly updated, new washrooms with larger showers and a Family Washroom that meets Barrier Free requirements will soon be available at TYC.

Obviously this substantive gain will come with some pain. Contractor’s portable toilet will be on site next week and will be supplemented by TYC as required to the degree required. TYC will ensure that work parties and launch preparations are accommodated. Our well water system will be commissioned starting 05 April to support the Contractor’s requirements as well as the membership.

TYC Pump out facilities will be ready to support the needs of members. However, Clubhouse showers and flushing toilets will not be available during construction.

Also note that there will be construction equipment on site which will take up space at the clubhouse level. Most importantly, the work area in the Club House is a Construction Zone as defined by the permit with the City of Kingston. Please do not enter for the sake of the safety of all concerned.

This long awaited renewal is almost a reality. Your Building Committee, and especially the intense contribution of Grant Delaney, has made this possible.

Trusting Trident members will understand this level of inconvenience is very short term and the positive results will be very long term.
